Since it was founded in 2010, the biennial has grown thanks to the work of volunteers – artists, educators and students. Volunteers work alongside the biennial team during exhibition and event periods.

Volunteering in 2026

Volunteer applications for the 2026 biennial were collected through an online form; the deadline was 20 March 2026. The announcement read: “If you believe in the transformative power of art and want to share the same dream with children and young people, this call is made for you!”

Volunteer work was led by the Volunteer Coordinator in the biennial team.

Volunteer training

The 2026 volunteer training took place in person over two days at ARTER (Istanbul), on Thursday 12 March and Friday 13 March 2026, from 13:00 to 16:00. The sessions covered how the biennial is organised, the allocation of tasks, the event spaces and the visitor experience; attendance was compulsory.

When the volunteering and training timeline for the next biennial is announced, it will appear on this page.

Volunteer certificate of appreciation

Volunteers who take part in the biennial receive a Volunteer Certificate of Appreciation by e-mail; the code on the certificate can be verified at sertifika.cocukgenclikbienal.org/sertifika.
