As part of the 5th Istanbul Children and Youth Art Biennial, Italian artist Constantin Migliorini will give a talk on “The Relationship Between Art, Students and Life” at Beşiktaş Çağdaş MKM on Saturday 28 April at 16:00.

The Istanbul Children and Youth Art Biennial, held from 19 April to 23 May 2018 under the concept “Here and Now!”, continues with workshops, exhibitions and talks, attracting large numbers of students. As part of the Biennial’s talks programme, Italian artist Constantin Migliorini will meet students, teachers and parents on 28 April for the talk “The Relationship Between Art, Students and Life”.

The place of art in life

Seeking answers to the questions “How does art touch a point in life, and how does it create and sustain a foundation for itself?”, the talk will explore the relationship between students and teachers through photographs of students’ free and creative moments of work in the classroom. With the aim of setting the spirits of children and young people free and allowing them to be free in their thoughts and feelings, the talk will also offer teachers and parents examples drawn from educational processes in Italy and Turkey. The talk is open to all; participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes early.

Who is Constantin Migliorini?

Constantin Migliorini was born in Poggibonsi (Siena) and studied painting at the Siena Art Institute in 1993. In 1999 he continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence. He then spent three years at the Academy of Fine Arts in Seville, which he attended on an Erasmus scholarship. In 2000 he received advanced art training in Granada, Spain, with a Progetto Leonardo scholarship. Migliorini, who has taken part in solo and group exhibitions as well as seminars and workshop programmes in Italy and many other countries, continues to teach painting and scenography at the Varese School of Art.

Raising the creative new generations of the future

One of the largest organisations of its kind in the world, the Istanbul Children and Youth Art Biennial creates a space for sharing grounded in multiculturalism on a global scale, enabling different geographies and cultures to be expressed through the eyes and aesthetics of children. Children and young people, who can create work in many fields at the Biennial, from performance to dance and from video art to sculpture, also lead the way in building effective intercultural communication.

Enriched by the exhibitions, concerts, events and workshops of students on their way to becoming the producers and audiences of arts and culture of the future, the Istanbul Children and Youth Art Biennial is followed by a wide audience of writers, artists, art lovers, teachers, students, parents and members of the press. Previous Biennials, held at a variety of venues across Istanbul including its ferries, squares, railway stations, warehouses, galleries and museums, have been visited by 180,000 people.
